The weather had cleared up by this third day of the Junior Olympics, and it was back to being hot and humid. (Took advantage of filming today's games versus taking photographs, so the selection for this post was limited.) Our venue for today's three games, Mission Viejo High School. First up - Newport!
The day was looking good with some great teamwork and hard play. Del Mar notched themselves a win with a final score of Del Mar 9 - Newport 8! Dakota's stats - 2 shot attempts, 2 goals scored, 2 assists, and 2 steals. 2's across the board!
For the second game, we faced Windy City again. Del Mar knew that Windy City would come out harder than before, but they answered back and out scored them with a final score of Del Mar 12 - Windy City 6! Dakota's stats - 5 goals scored, 1 assist and 3 steals! Oh yeah, baby, oh yeah!!!
Today's last game was played under the lights. We faced Lamorinda again. At first we stayed even with them knowing if we could pull off a win, we would get to play in a medal round. But Lamorinda found their second wind and came back to take the game. Lamorinda 13 - Del Mar 7. Dakota's stats - 2 shot attempts, 2 assists and 2 steals.
In tomorrow's game, the last of the tournament, Del Mar would be playing for 5th place, out of 24 teams, in the Gold Division of the Boys 14U championships. Good luck, Del Mar!
