The first day of Junior Olympics had the Del Mar team scheduled to play three games at Aliso Niguel High School.
First game was a tough one playing against Los Alamitos who were ranked 17th. Del Mar was ranked 32nd. Although the boys played well, Los Al proved tough with a final score of Los Al 14 - Del Mar 7. PapaBear kept the game stats. Dakota had 5 shot attempts, 1 assist, and 1 block in this game.
With the second game scheduled for 3:30 PM, Dakota asked if we could have lunch at Five Guys. Since the boy had just worked his behind off, we gladly said "Yes!". Although we did get him some Jamba Juice as well.
The second game was against a team from Chicago, Windy City. The team handled them solidly gaining a win with a final score of Del Mar 7 - Windy City 4. For this game, Dakota's stats were 2 shots attempts, 2 goals scored, 1 assist, and 1 block.
Third game was against 16th ranked Santa Barbara. Again, really tough competition and some excellent play, but not enough to overtake this strong and older team. Final score was Santa Barbara 13 - Del Mar 4. Dakota's stats were 4 shot attempts, 1 goal scored, 1 assist, and 1 steal.
After playing three full games, Dakota was ready for dinner and bed. Tomorrow would be another day.
