Having ordered 6 cubic yards of amended soil to be delivered to our home on Thursday, we prepped the garden beds with weed covering and mesh in an attempt to prevent gophers from eating our plants.
The flower garden bed was cleared of weeds and the bird of paradise had been removed. All that was needed were the raised flower beds, fencing and soil.
All the plants were in peat pots ready to be planted.
The truck arrived as scheduled and dumped the soil in our driveway. Now it became serious, having to shovel the soil into the wheelbarrow and taking it to the backyard one wheelbarrow at a time.
We managed to fill two of the three garden beds on the Thursday.
With the generous help of our neighbor, Dennis, we finished filling the third garden bed on Friday, piling the leftover dirt on a tarp in the backyard.
Brian added fertilizer and supplements to the soil and watered them down before the day was done. These had been two long days of hard labor, but it was terrific to see it done.
