Patience

The most challenging part of our gardening project is the need for patience.  It takes time for our garden to grow, and tending to it each day is such a blessing to share with our family as we watch our plants grow, flower and bear fruit.  What a miracle of life.

Backyard Colors

The flowers in my garden are really starting to bloom.  Incredible the variety colors that arise from the dirt.

This is a flower from a bulb PapaBear picked out.

White and pink snapdragons grown from seed.

Lilies grown from bulbs that I chose.

More Bloomers

It is now a habit for one of us to walk and inspect the gardens first thing in the morning.  Dakota did it today and came back in excited to announce that the first of the morning glory flowers had bloomed.  I proceeded to hand him the point-n-shoot camera and asked him to please take some pictures, in manual, of them for me.  The camera was returned to me with not only pictures of the morning glory, but also a zuchinni and a pumpkin flower.  They were such good pictures, I decided to use them for this blog entry.

Pumpkin Flower which Dakota said looks like a starfish.

The gardens are really taking off and displaying more growth and development each day.  Tomorrow, I hope to take some photographs of the new flowers blooming the the flower garden, and plant more morning glory seedlings around our garden fences.

Mission Trails

Wanting to visit Mission Trails Regional Park for some time, Alia and I made a date of it this morning to go photograph there.  Being our first time and getting there at nine in the morning, we opted to see the Visitor Center first and then walk a short trail.

The Oak Grove Loop Trail proved to be just right for us today.

So glad Alia made me turn around and get my light stick out of the car.

Practiced shooting with a off-camera flash on a light stick.

Setting my background and then adding light.

 Gorgeous catepillar.

We finished our day with lunch at Crazee Burgers - Alia's treat!

Sunflowers

On Friday, PapaBear and I finished putting in the last of the garden boxes, lined them and filled them with soil.  When Dakota came home from school, I showed him how to plant the sunflower seedlings.  He then planted the rest of the sunflowers in the two small garden beds, twenty sunflower seedlings in all.  He was excited to know he was going to be responsible for the sunflowers.

Tomato Support

The tomatoes are growing so well and so fast, PapaBear had to put in some supports for them.  The tomato plants are getting fruit heavy with as many as four small green tomatoes already on each one!

We are on a roll with more fruits and flowers blooming!
