More JO Qualifier Games

JO Qualifiers continued over the weekend with great play against some challenging competition.  Some of the teams had brought down some of their high school players who were just met the 14 and under age requirement.

By the end of the weekend, Dakota and his team secured one of the four qualifying team spots to represent San Diego in the 2011 Junior Olympics!

She's Back!!!

June 3rd - It had been five months since we had been to the Los Angeles Airport to see Ana off to Hong Kong where she would be studying abroad and traveling to the nearby countries.
She took full advantage of the opportunity to meet and make new friends, and add as many stamps as she could to her passport.
The countries she had an opportunity to visit were Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, North Korea, and South Korea.  Hong Kong was quite the travel spring board for Ana.
So happy she had these terrific opportunities, but I am happier that she is now home safe and sound!

JO Qualifiers

September is the official start of the club water polo season.  It runs continuously and culminates with the Junior Olympics which are traditionally held the last two days of July and the first two days of August for the boys division.
The JO venue changes from year to year.  Dakota participated in his first Junior Olympic games three years ago at Stanford.  What an amazing aquatic facility!  Last year they JO's were in Los Angeles, and this year they will be in Orange County.
To participate in the Junior Olympics, a team needs to qualify by playing in the Junior Olympic qualifiers and placing in the top 3 or 4 teams.  For the JO qualifier games, each team is seeded depending on their season record.
JO qualifiers for the Pacific Southwest Zone (San Diego) began on June 1st with Del Mar playing against the NSD Stars.
Del Mar solidly defeated NSD Stars with a score of 20 - 2.  The balance of the JO qualifiers will be played June 3rd through 5th.
It will be non-stop water polo practices, games and tournaments in June and July as they prepare for the very tough competition to be faced in this year's JO's.

Memorial Day - A Day to be Grateful

In having our family barbecue with smores for dessert, we did not forget the true meaning of this day.  We are able to live freely because of the sacrifices our men and women of the Armed Forces, and their families, make every day for their country.  I am so proud to support our troops!

SD Botanical Garden

Having heard many recommend the San Diego Botanical Garden as a terrific photography location, Alia and I decided to visit and see for ourselves.  It was gorgeous!
